The latest version of Sony’s respected BRAVIA Engine fully digital video processor uses a collection of unique Sony algorithms to significantly reduce noise and produce sharp, vibrant, life-like images. Sony has created the unique Motionflow 120Hz technology to enhance the smoothness of fast-action pictures. Motionflow adds intermediate frames to create smoother pictures and enhance the depth and reality of your display. Movies consist of 24 images per second, and cannot be faithfully reproduced on conventional televisions, resulting in unnatural, jerky movements. But 24p True Cinema displays the 24 progressive images as they should be, in the same sequence as the original film source. Consisting of Sony’s unique image processing and backlight, Live Color Creation is a colour enhancement solution that offers a far wider range of tones. Featuring WCG-CCFL with a newly developed phosphor coating to enhance colours, it’s the unique combination with Sony algorithms that gives BRAVIA the edge. Live Color Creation not only reproduces vivid colours, but enhances only the colours that need to be enhanced using a specially developed algorithm that plots all colours where they belong. Colours that in the real world fall outside the sRGB triangle are re-plotted as close to the original colour in the WCG-CCFL colour space. The results are more vibrant colours and natural skin tones – of vital importance, since people are very sensitive to how skin naturally looks.
Conventional CRT televisions could only display only those colours defined in the sRGB colour space. But with the recent development of flat panel televisions that can display colours beyond the sRGB colour space, a new international standard called “xvYCC” was developed to capture a wider range of colours that exist in the real world. It is approximately 1.8 times wider than the colour space defined by the sRGB. xvYCC compatible products, when used in combination with each other, can reproduce colours found in nature more faithfully than ever before.
