Sony Canada recognizes the need to educate the next generation on its environmental practices. In order to promote awareness about issues affecting our environment, Sony Canada engages youth through two avenues:

The Great EcoKids Challenge

The Great EcoKids Challenge is an annual nationwide contest, providing schools, extra-curricular clubs and youth groups with an opportunity to positively impact our environment. Through large-scale group activities, students are provided with a platform that helps to develop and hone their leadership and teamwork skills, stimulate their creativity and increase their awareness about environmental issues. The Great EcoKids Challenge empowers students to generate positive change for their school and communities, and ultimately, the health of the environment.

Winners are judged on four criteria:

1. Contributes to the health of the environment
2. Produces positive outcomes
3. Encourages student participation and leadership
4. Impacts positively on the local community

Children’s Artwork

Sony Children’s ISO 14001 Earth Day Artwork Contest

Every year, Sony hosts the Children’s Earth Day artwork contest for Sony affiliated children. With a new theme each year, the past 17 years have generated amazing artwork and an increased awareness in youth about the environmental problems that we are facing.

Sony employees sponsor as many children as they wish, at times entire classrooms, providing youth ages 6 to 14 years with the opportunity to learn about the environment, express their hope for change through creative avenues and allowing the winners to have their artwork published in an Earth Day Calendar utilized by Sony employees across the globe. They also have the opportunity to win some great Sony prizes!
